REQUIREMENTS:Physical Requirements – Ability to lift 50lbs.Education Requirements – Bachelor's Degree.Experience Requirements – Basic computer skills utilizing programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must possess an intimate knowledge of all federal, state, and local guidelines pertaining to the dairy industry. Job Description
SUMMARY OF JOB:
To build and maintain a team approach through respect and communication at all levels. Responsible for coordinating and directing the work of all plant employees in all plant departments. Works under the general supervision of the Director of Plant Operations and exercises considerable independent judgment to select the proper course of action.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
- Directly assists the Director of Plant Operations.
- Directly responsible for the supervision of the Receiving and Pasteurizing departments including employee training, scheduling, day to day operations, and disciplinary procedures.
- Provides related technical, administrative, and managerial support to assist in meeting the operational objectives of the Company.
- Responsible for the overall operation of the plant in the absence of the Director of Plant Operations.
- Functions as the first-line manager for the receiving, pasteurization, packaging, load-out, empty case, and maintenance departments.
- Reviews and approves weekly work schedules, submitted by department supervisors, for all above mentioned departments.
- Ensures conformance with federal, state, local, and company standards in regards to temperatures, weights, measures, etc.
- Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that proper training is obtained.
- Identifies areas of “shrink” and develops, initiates, and maintains a plan to control “shrink”.
- Develops and maintains a plan to control butterfat loss.
- Performs annual performance reviews with departmental supervisors and reports to Director of Plant Operations.
- Evaluates employee performance reviews with departmental supervisors.
- Assists in the preparation of budget plans and accounts for the cost of personnel, equipment, and operating.
- Develops a plant-wide sanitation program. Directs the enforcement of sanitary policies with departmental supervisors.
- Develops relationships with employees to ensure a team oriented operation.
- Attends and participates actively in departmental meetings.
- Achieve assigned production goals / metrics for first pass quality, safety, efficiency, etc.
- Resolve production and safety problems as needed and provide immediate follow up to production variances and accident investigations via root cause analysis.
- Coach and mentor subordinate staff.
- Evaluate and appraise employee’s performance and follow up with proper documentation.
- Other tasks as deemed necessary by the Director of Plant Operations.
