Education & Experience - B.S. degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in science or related topic to food safety. Five years of food plant experience in a responsible position related to food safety or in a quality role. High school diploma, or equivalent, plus approximately 10 years food plant experience. Knowledge of HACCP and food safety/quality systems. Certified/registered auditor in one or all of the following Standards: BRC Global Standard – food, packaging, distribution; SQF; ISO 22000.* Formal training in quality system auditing such as Lead Assessor, ASQ, or CQA.* *Training may be offered to candidate with appropriate background. Administrative Skills - Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Be able to travel to inspection sites; be able to work independently of direct office supervision; and able to use a computer effectively. Physical Skills - Must be physically able to safely ascend to heights, be able to bend, crawl and move safely and freely around machinery and building without assistance. Must have eyesight or corrected eyesight to safely work around and inspect equipment, identify insect pests and to prepare inspection notes and reports without assistance. Other Requirements: Maintain a valid and current driver's license, current automobile liability insurance and maintain a personal vehicle for business use; maintain fiscal responsibility that will enable the auditor to travel, work and be away from home in the course of AIB inspection business.
Job Description
This job will require extensive travel, rigorous audits, and comprehensive report writing. It will involve communication at all levels and continual professional development in the product categories. Knowledge of all the relevant GFSI Standards is essential, although support and training will be given to all members of the team.
Job responsibilities include: Conduct audits of client facilities according to the scope of the Certification Program. Communicate verbally and in writing any non-conformances found during the audits against the relevant clause of the Standard. Prepare written reports for management recapping all issues of observations. Check, verify, and sign-off on the submitted corrective actions according to the certification procedures.
