• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, or related field
• 2 -5 years directing environmental compliance in a food or chemical plant
• Ability to grow in position to take on more responsibility and handle HSE for multiple sites in the future
Job Description
Specifics:
• Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations to include NJDEPs, SPCC/DPCC, stormwater, air permits, pollution prevention, emergency response, etc.
• Completes all permit renewal applications, regulatory reports such as monthly DMR’s, SARA 312/313, air emissions, hazardous waste, etc.
• Responsibility for wastewater compliance and liason to local POTW.
• Manages hazardous waste program (inventory, disposal, record keeping)
• Plant liason to EPA, OSHA, NJDEP, POTW, HMDC, and LEPC.
• Establishes and improves plant safety program.
• Champion of plant safety team and actively leads and participates in process hazard analysis (PHA), job safety analysis (JSA), risk assessment, and management of change (MOC).
• Leads all plant safety and environmental audits
• Ability to work with engineering to achieve pollution prevention and energy reduction goals.
• Devise, develop and monitor effective Risk Assessment strategies and make recommendations on the implementation of these strategies.
• Review and develop health and safety policies, procedures, and guidance and implement these policies.
• Maintains accident statistics along with all environmental and safety records.
• Investigate or arrange for all accidents and near-misses to be investigated, prepare report of findings including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement solutions.
• Plans all internal and external drills.
• Directs all security within the facility.
