West Liberty Foods is currently seeking a full time Lab Supervisor. This position is responsible for directing the operations of the laboratory and ensuring that policies and specifications for West Liberty Foods, LLC. are implemented and followed.
Essential Job Functions
- Manage all activities associated with the QA Lab.
- Ensures that all tests are being done in a timely manner and reports sent to customers in a timely manner.
- Completes follow up on all testing to insure compliance.
- Periodically monitors lab technician’s procedures to assure compliance.
- Organizes and maintains a written lab manual book that describes all lab tests and all policies pertaining to the laboratory.
- Maintains lab supply inventory and is responsible for making sure all lab supplies are ordered when needed.
- Supervises hourly lab employees.
- Provides department employees with information regarding company activities, changes and other significant events.
- Interview and recommends candidates for hourly area technicians positions.
- Informs and enforces hourly lab employees knowledge and adherence to:
o Company policies concerning their employment responsibilities such as attendance, tardiness, absence, vacation, disability leave and disciplinary procedures.
o Department work hours including relief and lunch periods, required clothing , cleanliness and lines of communication.
o The nature of work, instruction and training on proper use of equipment.
o Company quality standards and all relevant standard instructions.
- Provides required monthly training to the department on safety and accident prevention in the work place.
- Promotes and understands the “quality concept” and why it is important.
- Trains and develops quality assurance personnel to prove their job knowledge and their value to the department and the company.
- Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of Lab Quality Systems
- Assist in the development and implementation of new Quality Programs.
- Assist technical Services Manager and Director of Quality Systems in planning and exceeding budget expectations.
- Assist technicians with day-to-day activities.
