Job Description
SUMMARY
Directs activities through subordinates to attain production goals consistent with safety, quality, cost, productivity, policy, and delivery requirements. Improve technical skill level of the departmental work force. Reviews and establishes material, equipment, and manpower resources requirements. Follows department standards and practices. Coordinates maintenance and production activities to achieve company goals.
EXPECTATIONS:
• Responsible for assuring that job duties and responsibilities are performed according to job descriptions.
• Subject to company policies and procedures, is responsible for the accomplishments of assigned projects by required due date.
• Has the authority to utilize manpower, material, equipment and supply resources (appropriately) for the completion of projects and objectives.
• Manage, guide, train and support individuals reporting directly to him/her.
• Participates in production meetings.
• Consistently troubleshoot problems causing delays of tasks and projects, where high levels of technical knowledge and capability are required.
• Must be able to share/communicate these technical skills to subordinates.
• Forecast manpower, equipment, and supplies needed for projects, objectives and goals.
• Informs manager of potential problems and obstacles which could impair production schedules or completion of tasks.
• Schedule & Conduct performance evaluations of subordinates that report directly to him/her.
• Maintain confidentiality of information and documents that he/she comes in contact with or has access to.
• Responsible for scheduling external training of subordinates.
• Responsible for interviewing applicants for positions that report directly to him/her.
• Conduct disciplinary action of personnel reporting directly to him/her when appropriate.
• Approve vacation request for anyone that reports directly to him/her.
CONTROL AND FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Operate area within approved budget guidelines. (labor, materials)
• Share responsibility for insuring that all product specifications and standards set forth by R&D and Quality Assurance are followed, and that any deviation from those standards are reported immediately to the supervisor, and that immediate action in those process areas affected is taken up to and including the immediate termination of all process operations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Proficient at all maintenance skill level requirements including:
• Basic understanding of scheduling, motivation, personnel issues, stock room procedures, security and first response training at the incident commander level.
• Understanding of budgeting process, accounting practices, and report generation.
• Planning, organization and personnel control skills.
• Knowledge in the Electro-mechanical Field
