POSITION SUMMARY:
Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing and controlling the maintenance and repair of production factory during assigned shift and work group. Ensure the maintenance department provides the highest quality of service to the plant. This high quality service includes minimizing downtime, supporting safety and sanitation and minimizing cost by encouraging innovative and progressive solutions. Must develop and lead people to ensure achievement of plant objectives. Takes ownership of driving continuous improvement.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Results Focus:
• Provides technical guidance to other team leaders and shift team members. Assigns work tasks to team members and monitors task accomplishment. Ensures team members have the proper tools, supplies, and equipment needed for successful task completion. Ensures safe work practices/promotes a safe work environment. Resolves personnel, mechanical operational and resource-related issues that arise during shift so that individual and team productivity are not affected.
• Ensure company policies, quality procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) are understood and followed by associates. Ensure compliance with HACCP, NQS, SSOP, FTQ and that these are understood and followed.
• Ensure safety and productivity goals are achieved and provide direction to team to achieve these goals.
• Manage controllable costs during assigned shifts (labor and materials)
• Provide tactical direction for equipment standardization as well as shared learning based on equipment modifications and troubleshooting findings.
• Coordinate with engineering on new installations for technical support and training.
Lead & Develop People:
• Create a positive, productive environment where each associate can fully contribute and be valued.
• Train and develop associates. Clearly explain and check to make sure others understand what is expected. Build confidence in associates and provide one on one as well as team coaching.
• Provide information and resources to the team to make decisions and solve problems. Keeps team members apprised regarding administrative matters, policy, procedures, team/department performance and other work related matters that affect them through team meetings, shift start-up meetings, and one-on-one contacts. Documents incidents requiring disciplinary action
• Drafts procedures, reviews team member time cards; schedules vacations. Fills out supply requests, maintenance requests and other administrative forms.
Resource Management:
• Manage assigned projects from conception through installation. Supports the identification and planning of manufacturing process, utility, and facility improvements.
• Be aware of and react to opportunity to intervene and reduce environmental impact and reduce waste.
• Take ownership of and drive continuous improvement using NCE and other tools
SUPERVISION GIVEN:
• Leads assigned maintenance team. Has frequent interaction with other operations BUS / BUL's and maintenance department members.
• Has occasional interaction and collaborative work with HR, Finance, Engineering, Quality, SHE, IP and other BU's.
FINANCIAL/STRATEGIC IMPACT:
• Plant KPI's of Safety, Quality, Performance and Cost
• Adhere to Department Operating budget and material variance.
• Work order and PM completion rates.
• Labor utilization rates.
Specific talent (skill) requirements, essential job functions and bona fide occupational qualifications:
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
• Bachelor degree in Manufacturing or Engineering arena is desired. Associate or Vocational Degree in Maintenance, Skilled Trade or related field is required.
• Must demonstrate knowledge of food safety & regulatory requirements for food safety and hygienic engineering.
• Employee must support and comply with all Company programs and policies, including affirmative action goals and commitments, SHE strategies, corporate citizenship initiatives, GMP's and Safety Policies to ensure employee safety and product quality. Employee must meet all requirements related to NQMS and ISO standards for Quality, Food Safety, Environmental Compliance and Occupational Health and Safety.
EXPERIENCE:
• Three+ years related experience is required in increasingly challenging and responsible positions with demonstrated leadership competencies.
SKILLS:
• Superior verbal and written communication, leadership and planning skills are required.
• Strong computer (preference for SAP / AMM experience), problem solving and coaching skills are necessary.
• Able to understand and to clarify complex problems.
• Able to identify and suggest new opportunities.
• Ability to lead team initiatives and work in a team environment.
• Must demonstrate continuous learning and improving in job skills.
