Job Description
Highly visible Materials Manager will oversee the Demand/Supply Planning, Inventory/Age/Service Level levels, Distribution and related new product commercialization and customer service support. This position supports the plant Supply Chain function with people development, training, process standardization and process improvement in the areas of material management, forecasting and planning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work directly with Demand Planning team on forecast concerns and question to improve service or inventory targets based on market demand changes and trends.
• Work directly with Operations/Copacker Operations and Supply Planning to ensure demand and inventory targets are maintained.
• Prepare reports and communicate inventory measurements to management (turns/age/DOH/working capital and service levels).
• Develop and monitor Distribution Requirements Plans, initiate priorities based on customer needs and production availability.
• Manage inventory targets (turns, aged, doh, safety stock, distribution) • Work closely with Sales, Marketing and Customer Service to identify proactive inventory adjustments in support of both sales and operational targets.
• Monitor SKU levels and recommend SKU rationalization initiatives to promote reduced exposure, raised awareness and recommend options.
• Evolve and maintain documentation and operating procedures for demand/supply planning process and related systems.
• Actively participate with Contract Manufacturing, Finance, Sales/Marketing, R&D and Project Managers towards new product development and launch.
• Proactively facilitate and recommended re-engineering, best practices & consensus between functional areas (Supply Chain, Sales/Marketing, Operations, Finance and IT).
• Work closely with Plant Operations towards the accurate and timely manufacture and distribution of products.
• In coordination with Human Resources and the business units, develop training programs and skill assessments to ensure proper core competencies are in place.
• Analyze metrics/data to identify potential areas of improvement.
• Work with function and/or business leaders to analyze root causes of issues. Develop plans to address opportunities and control processes.
QUALIFICATION
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• BA/BS Degree required.
• Accredited in Business preferred
• Strong knowledge of Demand/Supply Planning
• Excellent systems knowledge with Microsoft Excel, Access, MAPICS, SAP and other ERP/DRP/MRP functionality
• Excellent Analytical Abilities (Extensive spreadsheet analysis experience)
• Minimum of five years supervisory experience in Materials management or Supply Chain in a manufacturing environment
• Extensive background in Materials Management with hands on experience in: Master Scheduling-Demand Planning-Materials Manager-Supply Chain Manager-Commercial Accountant
