Maintenance Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION
Partial Job Description 1) Administer the Maintenance Department’s Annual Operating Plan (AOP), including utilities, grounds keeping, communications, occupancy, capital projects and maintenance 2) Establish annual goals and objectives for department & staff and review work completion for adequacy 3) Provide predictive, preventative and responsive maintenance to plant physical assets 4) Direct craft resources in manufacturing support activities 5) Utilize the SAP maintenance management system for work requests and equipment repair history 6) Repair cost tracking, instrument calibration scheduling and coordination of capital projects 7) Mentor staff members to enable successful completion of technical and operational assignments 8) Assist in special and hazardous waste disposal, wastewater monitoring and other environmental activities in collaboration with the Environmental Manager 9) Provide steam, water, cooling tower water, chilled water, air and electrical system operations 10) Maintain and optimize physical stockroom inventory by utilizing the SAP materials management system 11) Understand and utilize the 5S system of orderliness 12) Write and/or maintain policies and procedures affecting departmental operations 13) Interpret and execute plant and divisional policies and procedures 14) Provide management of site-wide capital projects and expenditures 15) Review and approve purchase orders and work orders 16) Protect plant property and assets by maintaining fire protection systems and responding to agreed upon insurer requests 17) Research applicable codes and standards, confirming compliance to all requirements and identifying gaps where they exist 18) Comprehend and comply with applicable provisions of the Quality, Environmental and Safety Management systems 19) Provide night and weekend on-call availability in support of plant operations 20) Participate in business meetings, learning opportunities and developmental activities, sometimes requiring overnight travel 21) Provide employee training, mentoring, coaching and counseling 22) Utilize people planning cycle and tools 23) Perform activities per the hazardous waste and DOT Hazardous Material (Position Description Appendix, EDOC-030) 24) Provide challenging and stretching tasks and assignments 25) Hold frequent development discussions and be aware of each person's career goals 26) Construct compelling development plans and execute them 27) Push people to accept developmental moves and take on those who need help and further development 28) Cooperate with development system in the organization as a people builder 29) Assign responsibility for tasks and decisions clearly 30) Set clear objectives and measures 31) Monitor process, progress and results 32) Design feedback loops into work
CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Qualifications / Skills Required 1) Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited engineering school 2) Minimum 5+ years of experience, preferably in project and maintenance assignments 3) Professional Engineer's license is preferred 4) Ability to building effective teams 5) Skilled at developing direct reports as well as managing and measuring work 6) Ability to blend people into teams, when needed 7) Adept at creating strong morale and spirit in his/her team 8) Ability to share wins and successes and foster open dialogue 9) Accomplished at defining success in terms of the whole team and creating a feeling of belonging in the team 10) Working knowledge of Six Sigma
