Skills and Experience

•  Qualifications and Experience:
  • 3-5 years experience as repairs/maintenance technician in an automated industrial production facility, conducting maintenance and/or repair. Certification from company and/or vendor training programs.
  • 3-5 years experience repairing and maintaining bulk production equipment (auger and vibrating scales) and programming equipment controls for the bulk machines
  • Must have Forklift/ PoweredPallet Jack Operator maintenance certification which must be kept current for this position
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance issues
  • Ability to weld, cut, grind and make minor sheet metal repairs
  • Possesses basic carpentry, plumbing, rigging and forklift operation
  • Can provide installation and repair techniques for all piping systems (water, gas and air)
  • Possesses industrial safety, machine safety and safeguarding techniques
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and take the initiative to get assigned work done efficiently and effectively and in a timely manner
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and communicate with management on progress
  • Strong attention to details and getting the work done right the first time
  • Must have valid drivers license
  • Must be a non-smoker; NGVC is a health food company with a non-smoking policy for all locations.

Job Summary

The Repairs Technician position is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on Avatar (Taylor) bulk production equipment at the Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage (NGVC) Distribution Center as well as on equipment such as forklifts and sliding glass doors at all store locations in an efficient and timely manner.   Daily schedules will be coordinated by the Facilities Manager and in some cases, travel may be required.

 

Responsibilities

Repairs and Maintenance  - Distribution Center (1^st priority)

• Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on equipmentInspects mechanical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects, adjustments needed to standard
• Cleans, lubricates and adjust parts, equipment and machinery

•  Dismantles equipment and machinery to remove, replace or repair defective parts
• Re-assembles and tests equipment and machinery to verify repairs and ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Repair techniques
• Performs pneumatic and hydraulic systems installation and repairs
• Creates clear, accurate, complete and timely documentation of work orders

 

Repairs and Maintenance - All Locations

• Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of forklifts 
• Repair and maintain sliding glass doors.
• Dismantles equipment and machinery to remove, replace or repair defective parts
• Re-assembles and tests equipment and machinery to verify repairs and ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Repairs and maintains equipment and machinery or systems using needed tools
• Cleans, lubricates and adjust parts, equipment and machinery
• Performs pneumatic and hydraulic systems installation and repairs
• Creates clear, accurate, complete and timely documentation of work orders
