POSITION PURPOSE:
The Marketing Associate Trainee is responsible for preparing, during training, to perform the essential functions of the Marketing Associate position which is to maintain minimum growth standards in both Total Sales and Total Gross Profit Dollars in his/her given territory. This would apply to both existing accounts and development of new accounts.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Marketing Associates are responsible for penetrating his/her geographic territory. Product knowledge is essential to accomplish this goal, sales meetings, district meetings, “ride-with” programs and tradeshows provide a world of product information. It is, however, up to each individual to obtain product and market knowledge through other means as well, such as Industry Publications, Industry Tradeshows, Customer Oriented Organizations, etc.
In addition, analysis of geographic territories is essential. The individual must be able to analyze all computer reports to find areas for improvement and be able to take this information and execute an effective marketing strategy to improve a given situation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must adhere to company goals, in relationship to sales growth and gross profit dollar growth, for a given geographical territory.
- Always seek avenues in their territory for new business, such as new accounts or new concepts.
- Responsible for demonstrating new products and ideas to their customer base as well as potential accounts. This would also include working any promotions to these same accounts.
- Responsible for collecting all account receivables, both current and delinquent. This person would work very closely with the Credit Department in gathering all information possible pertaining to credit on his/her given territory.
- Responsible for all company equipment, placed in his/her given territory. This person should maintain adequate records on all beverage equipment or chemical equipment in their territory. This person is also responsible for making minor repairs to this equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining Product Manuals, Sales Manuals, Price Books, Order taking Systems, Data Processing reports, etc.
- To submit all request for information and reporting forms to their District Sales Manager on a timely basis.
- Responsible for certain aspects of training with all company personnel (Sales, Warehouse, Delivery, Office Administration).
- Responsible for the exchange of information with all other departments within the company (Marketing, Operations, Sales, Merchandising).
- Responsible for representing the company at industry-wide functions or internal functions (Special Events, Tradeshows, Seminars).
- Responsible for exploring all avenues to ensure total customer satisfaction.
- Responsible to maintain inventory of any computers placed in common locations.
- Responsible for insurance on company issued laptop.
- Marketing Associates must carry auto insurance on their personal vehicle in the amounts of Bodily Injury: $100,000 each person, $300,000 each accident and Property Damage: $100,000. The expense for this requirement is the responsibility of the Marketing Associate and is not eligible for reimbursement from the Company.
- Marketing Associates must have transportation to call on customers and maintain a cell phone for business use. Expenses for these necessities are not eligible for reimbursement from the Company and are the responsibility of the Marketing Associate.
- Business related expenses ie: gifts and entertainment will not be eligible for reimbursement from the Company.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Should reside within his/her geographical territory.
Good working knowledge of the hospitality industry is desirable.
Should possess excellent communication skills and be able to interact with all company and customer personnel.
Must be self-motivated, assertive, organized and creative.
Should be constantly building their sales knowledge.
