Skills and Experience

• HVAC Certification required.  MUST have an excellent driving record. Requirements:
   
  HVAC Certification (Mandatory), commitment and adherence to all company safety programs and initiatives, RETA certification preferred but not required, OSHA mandated “Fit Test” to be performed, High School Diploma, and Ability to climb and work at heights up to 40 feet, ability to complete paperwork. Three to four years education and/or experience in electrical and refrigeration repairs. Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.
   
  OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:
   
  Exercise good judgment in determining repairs and service necessary to maintain ice merchandisers. May have indirect profit impact if merchandisers are out of service.
   
   
  SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: No supervisory responsibilities

  External:    Retail Store Management and associates, Interact with store personnel and outside contact when picking up parts and supplies       
   
  WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
   
  Ability to climb ladder and work with light duty tools. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work environment varies from in customer’s facility to plant repair shop. Exposure to travel hazards to and from accounts; electrical and mechanical equipment; possible use of paint. Some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling required; units on top of box approximately 150 lbs. and must be able to move merchandisers with proper equipment (700 – 800 lbs). Weather exposure when working outside.

Position Purpose

 

Responsible for repair and service to all ice merchandisers. repair and make operational Ice Factory Systems and related components. Ammonia Refrigeration system operation, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting. As well as other general maintenance responsibilities.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: (Not necessarily in order of importance)

 

Accounts Location

 

·         All technicians must be neat in appearance and be in the company provided uniform.

 

·         The technician should enter the location carrying their ladder and tools on every service call.

 

·         The technician should locate the manager of caller and inform them of their presence.

 

·         If the call pertains to water of any type, the technician must attempt to clean it up while ensuring the area has been designated as a potential hazard area. This means placing floor hazard signs around the unit.

 

·         The technician should address the service issue that was reported.

 

·         The technician should then check the system from icemakers to merchandiser for obvious problems while they wait for the system to product more bags of ice (ISB).

 

·         The technician must fill out the designated service report.

 

·         The technician loads bags and merchandises the ice, if necessary(ISB).

 

·         The technician will check out with the manager or caller and inform them of system status and ice level.

 

·         The technician will report back to his dispatcher to inform them they are ready to receive another call.

·         Repair and service ice merchandisers as requested.

 

·         Pick-up and delivery of ice merchandisers per work order.

 

·         Maintain appearances of ice merchandisers.

 

Plant location:

·         Pick up parts and supplies as needed.

 

·         Repair merchandiser units in plant.

 

·         Keep refrigeration repair area neat and clean.

 

·         Maintain and monitor inventory of refrigeration, parts and supplies.

 

·         Perform repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on ammonia refrigeration systems and related components including evaporators and condensers

 

·         Daily system checks and reporting

 

·         Respond to ammonia related emergencies when on call

 

·         Perform maintenance and general carpentry or welding to equipment such as doors, floors, docks, dock levelers, overhead doors, freezer doors, roof, racks, etc

 

·         Ability to withstand cold temperatures

 

·         Capable of handling a wide variety of tools and equipment
