Job Description
Partial Job Description
1) Find, develop and manage projects from start to finish that are focused on labor savings, packaging material savings, packaging process improvements and packaging efficiency
2) Implement capital projects and provide technical assistance to operations
3) Perform packaging engineering in support of packaging improvements, new products and line extensions
4) Manage projects in all of the facilities that improve labor efficiency, packaging material efficiency, packaging equipment efficiency and finished product usages efficiency
5) Assist Director of Engineering with the capital budget
6) Write the Capital Expenditure Authorization Request (CEAR) process, including the planning, design and engineering, budgeting, justification, approval and implementation of projects
7) Coordinate capital projects with management and various departments, including Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, etc.
8) Manage timely and economic completion of capital projects together with the Project Manager, which may include supervision of outside engineering firms, supply vendors and contractors
9) Evaluate alternative solutions to design issues as determined by tests and experience
10) Investigate emerging technologies and identify new packaging opportunities with emphasis on cost reductions and enhanced packaging
11) Provide engineering support for inter-departmental groups, including Management, Maintenance, Production, Packaging and Distribution in addition to outside vendors and contractors to ensure effective and efficient project management balanced with packaging and customer distribution requirements
12) Recommend improvements to packaging methods
13) Interact with plant operations to improve and optimize staffing and scheduling
