Job Description
Partial Job Description 1) Organize, implement and supervise all QA functions related to the manufacturing of all products at the company facilities in accordance with established company, state and federal standards 2) Review department quality and food safety monitoring records and related monitoring records 3) Conduct trend analysis of such monitoring/test data in order to provide the Plant Manager and the Corporate Manager of Quality Assurance with information regarding product conformance to company, state and federal standards and existing 4) Oversee manufacturing/product monitoring practices with recommendations for refinements that may enhance operational efficiency, product quality, etc. 5) Embrace and participate actively in the Every Day Focus culture and management style 6) Supervise actively the daily activities of the QA Department and staff, review QA records and applicable production records for product conformance to established company/customer specifications 7) Administer and maintain compliance effectively with the facility’s established FDA-HACCP Program like HACCP plans, sanitation control procedures and supporting pre-requisite programs, etc. 8) Act as the on-site HACCP leader/coordinator, review all HACCP-generated records and associated HACCP monitoring procedures and update forms and procedures as necessary 9) Assist Production and other affected departments in maintaining compliance with the facility HACCP program, including overall plant sanitation in accordance with FDA’s GMPs 10) Conduct routine processing facility inspections with all government inspectors and participate in their reviews of required paperwork, forms and programs 11) Take corrective actions when necessary to bring processes/programs back into compliance 12) Assist the Corporate Manager of QA with periodic review and audit/verify the facility HACCP Program to ensure that is accurate, current and in compliance with State/Federal requirements 13) Supervise the sample and inspect raw products, finished products and ingredients 14) Administer effectively the facility “Product Hold/Special Lots” program and review special lots not conforming to established specifications and provide recommendations as to their disposition 15) Coordinate with other facility managers/supervisors and identify measures to prevent product nonconformance re-occurrence 16) Review continually production procedures, QA procedures, product specifications and testing methodology of all purchased and manufactured food or food-related products 17) Recommend improvements as necessary and provide basic data for their development/revision 18) Ensure all company QA manuals are maintained and updated as necessary 19) Ensure plant management, QA technicians and processing employees are provided adequate training/technical support in the following areas like food safety, process & quality assurance standards, sanitation standards/cleaning chemical usage, insect and rodent control programs and federal/state/company personal hygiene rules and regulations for food processing establishment 20) Coordinate training efforts listed above with appropriate department manager/supervisor 21) Assist the corporate QA Manager in the preparation and planning of the QA department annual operating budget for the facility’s operations 22) Administer effectively the facility QA department, including reporting/reviews of monitoring data including conducting various “trend analyses” using available/applicable data to help identify quality/food safety problems and develop recommendations for improvements to the Corporate QA Manager 23) Act as the primary point of contact for receiving, disseminating and responding to customer complaints for products produced at the facility 24) Lead “root cause” investigation into consumer complaints; coordinate/solicit assistance from other departments as needed 25) Draft consumer complaint response letters/corrective action reports for review by the Corporate Director of QA and EP 26) Complete various annual customer audits and questionnaires and accompany customer representative(s) that visit the facility as needed/requested 27) Develop, implement and maintain everyday focus activities to ensure continuous improvements and cost efficiencies in position and department 28) Visit customer as required to national and international sites may be necessary 29) Perform other duties as assigned
