Skills and Experience

• Qualifications and Experience:
  • 5+ years experience in Product Quality and Safety, preferably within a natural retail environment
  • Working knowledge of Federal, State and/or Municipal laws and regulations pertaining to product quality, safety, environmental policy, sanitation, communicable disease and industrial hygiene
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; interacts well with multiple departments as required
  • Strong technical and business writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task
  • Ability to effectively communicate key concepts and ideas to a diverse audience
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Position requires 25% travel

Job Summary

This position will support, guide and educate Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage teams in overall product quality, safety and compliance. Ensures compliance to the Company’s product safety and quality objectives.

 

Responsibilities 

• Establish and maintain all guidelines and best practices for product safety and compliance
  • Ensure all practices and procedures exceed regulatory requirements
  • Verify and insure company policies and procedures are being followed
• Serve as Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) coordinator for the company

o    Develop, implement and evaluate inspections, standards and compliance programs to identify exposures

§ Recommend corrective actions

§ Insure preventive and corrective actions are implemented

• Coordinate preparation for and corrective follow-up actions for third party facility/program inspections
• Perform inspections and maintain records of supply partners
• Execute product withdrawals/recalls and assist in the event of any product safety crisis
• Establish record keeping procedures
• Act as a liaison between company and regulatory agencies 
  • Prepares for and represents company in regulatory audits
• Maintain various programs with third party vendors 
• Serves as a driving force for the organizational distribution of food safety education and information
