- Bachelor’s degree in a food science-based area of study – preferably microbiology
- A minimum of 15 years hands-on plant experience in the food industry, with a minimum of 10 years of management experience
- At least 5 years of experience working a QMS under GFSI and HACCP
- Excellent knowledge of SQF, SPC
- Possesses a very solid knowledge of sanitation systems, techniques and procedures and pasteurization processes
- Experience dealing with FDA in acidified and acid foods (21 CFR 114 and 108.25)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Able to travel to Canada

We’re looking for a Quality Manager, but not just any Quality Manager. We need a leader, a coach and a fearless advocate of quality to ensure our products are safe and healthy. In this role, you’ll have responsibility for developing a continuous quality improvement program for a new manufacturing facility producing organic baby food for national brands in the growing area of spouted pouches. Your leadership will ensure that the production and distribution of products meets or exceeds all quality standards, including Organic and Kosher. You’ll also have responsibility for communicating quality results and the transfer of quality and QA knowledge to a highly dynamic workforce in a 24/6 operation. You’ll have the opportunity to develop a quality department, and build a high-performing team, exceeding expectations along the way. You’ll have Bachelor’s degree in a food science-based area of study – preferably microbiology, and a minimum of 15 years hands-on plant experience in the food industry, with a minimum of 10 years of management experience. Essential Functions
- Oversee the operation of the plant laboratory, including ensuring supplies and equipment are available
- Ensures product safety, regulatory compliance, and compliance with company standards as stated in the Quality Assurance Manual, Laboratory Manual, and Company directives
- Drives Continuous Improvement efforts in product quality/performance and process optimization
- Provides leadership in coaching, education and training of management staff and plant employees for Quality Assurance; seeks assistance as needed from other training resources
- Implementation and training of the Corporate HACCP program (GMPS and PRP)
- Customer complaint management
- Reviews all product labels used in the facility and ensures adherence to regulatory and Company standards
- Supervises the appropriate chemical, bacteriological, sensory and utilization tests on raw materials and pasteurized products (third party typically)
- Communicates quality metric and inspection results to appropriate managers and others in leadership positions including, but not limited to daily, weekly or monthly KPI reporting to Corporate
- Ensures that proper sanitation procedures are utilized and that adequate sanitation tests are performed; provides “troubleshooting” efforts in the event of sanitation system failure
- Develops and maintains documentation of all required quality tests and activities
- Assists the Operations Manager in managing local, state, customer/third party, and federal audits and inspections
- Ensures adherence to all contract packaging quality requirements
- Cooperates in a cross-functional manner as a change agent with all departments within the Company
