Description
1) Create, develop and implement SOPs across the energy plant and refining processes 2) Model, test and modify existing mechanical, electrical and instrumentation technologies to optimize energy as well as refining efficiencies 3) Train and mentor operators and engineers in best practices to ensure that critical automatic, safety systems are in place 4) Lead and develop Six Sigma initiatives across the power plant and refining operations to reduce energy and waste, improve yield, raise quality as well as elevate productivity 5) Support refinery production as needed 6) Lead continuous improvement and process optimization in the refinery 7) Propose capital projects and engineering support for capital projects implementation 8) Measure, analyze and recommend changes to production processes 9) Develop and lead capital projects with significant economic returns 10) Create process models of current and future states 11) Champion and lead Six Sigma performance improvement projects 12) Modify, change or improve stand-alone PID controllers and DCS systems 13) Conduct frequent engineering audits to test for systems’ response to disturbance and variances in inputs/outputs 14) Create steady-state simulations of control loops and algorithms to stimulate plant behavior and analyze results 15) Assist with the development of R&D field trials and studies in refining processes as well as act as local R&D Coordinator (as needed) 16) Develop workflow systems and methodologies 17) Support creation and development of ‘visual factory’ tools 18) Report physically to the prime work location and visit other company facilities

Critical Requirements:
1) BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering/Sugar Technology (P. Eng. preferred) 2) Minimum 10 years of experience with expertise in process optimization engineering with a food/beverage company and capital projects 3) Knowledge of computer simulation software (from AspenTech family) as well as Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification preferred
