Job Summary

â??Lead capital procurement sourcing initiatives for equipment, construction, and engineering services for assigned operational platforms in North America.  This area represents approximately $300MM in purchasing across the ConAgra Brandsâ?? organization.  This role will lead the sourcing, negotiation and contracting in support of the annual capital investment plan for several manufacturing plants, including management of a multitude of construction contractors, engineering firms and equipment suppliers.  Maintains relationships with suppliers for materials/services to include negotiation and enforcement of contract while maintaining high performance standards of delivery, quality expectations, and corrective actions.  Leads cross functional project teams.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing, selection, negotiation and contracting on capital projects
  • Collaborate in cross functional teams with engineering, project management, operations and other internal stakeholders
  • Adhere to procurement policies and procedures                  
  • Draft Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposal (RFP), and conduct associated analysis.
  • Provide innovative/alternative sourcing and supplier options/recommendations to meet financial budget requirements
  • Establish and lead supplier relationship management initiatives with the capital supply base to improve supplier performance, drive innovation and reduce costs.
  • Conduct research on market dynamics, cost drivers, supplier business models, and historical spend to enhance future negotiations
  • Resolve supplier and internal customer issues to ensure successful project delivery
  • Manage supplier relationships and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIâ??s) to evaluate and report performance
  • Ensure continuity of services by working with high quality suppliers and managing supplier performance.
  • Development and maintenance of positive, productive, proactive relationships with a wide variety of suppliers, contractors and company personnel

Position Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a self-starter capable of performing independently while serving as a value added member to the Enterprise Procurement department and individual capital project teams.  Primary performance objectives are to: 1) deliver the best total value matching price with schedule, quality, and service; 2) ensure proper procurement processes, requirements, and procedures are followed to mitigate risk to the corporation; and 3) provide procurement expertise to engineering, operations, and other internal stakeholders. 5+ yrs experience in procurement or related field

  • Strong background in construction and equipment procurement
  • Broad understanding of capital equipment and construction industry
  • Contract law knowledge, with the ability to analyze statements of work, engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong negotiation skills with large purchases and complex technical specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large competitions and single source acquisitions
  • Capable of independently managing multiple priorities, projects, and tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and problem solving skills
  • Self-starter with proven track record of implementing/executing complex projects
  • Analytical skills and creative thinker
  • Bachelorâ??s degree required; MBA or advanced degree desirable
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP systems (SAP)
